The Origin of Motor Valley

In the last two decades, it has increased the importance of the automotive sector in Emilia Romagna. In fact, it has began the idea of ​​an ambitious project with the aim of identifying a tourist district that would promote this division.

The history of Emilia-Romagna is closely linked to a very strong motoring tradition. As a matter of fact, this area was land of farmers, who over the years have invested to innovate their supply chain technologically.

During the twentieth century, the agricultural machines began to stimulate the imagination of manufacturing companies. In effect, those changes leading them to invest money and resources in the automotive engineering sector. This is just the starting point for companies as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati and many others.

The Motor Valley Project

Around the early 2000s, it started the idea of ​​enhancing and making this reality known to those who had never had the opportunity to visit these places. In fact, the awareness of the potential of these companies and their history, leads to the creation and development of historical museums and private collections with the purpose of enhancing the history of Emilian cars and motorcycles, nowadays one of the cornerstones of Made in Italy.

The result of this project was reached in 2005 with the launch of the Motor Valley

The primary goal was to merge under a single Association most of the major motor brands based in Emilia Romagna. Another important aspect was to make the Motor Valley as one of the key points of tourism promotion of this region, both from a national and internation levels. This project, in fact, is included in “La Via Emilia – Experience the Italian Lifestyle”.

The Motor Valley is the ideal destination for all those, who are passionate of two and four wheels, but not only. In this area, located between Piacenza and Rimini, there are the best car and motor manufacturers, famous all over the world and jealously guarding the secrets of their success and of the Italian artisan culture.

Ferrari Museum

In Maranello, in the province of Modena, there is the Museum dedicated to Ferrari motors.

Born thanks to Enzo Ferrari’ idea, Ferrari is today considered one of the most prestigious car manufacturers in the world, a symbol of the history of this territory as well as of Made in Italy.

Exclusive experiences are offered to visitors: from a guided tour of the Museum and the factory, to a test drive on the circuit aboard one of the Ferrari-branded racing cars.


Maserati

Founded in 1914 by Alfieri Maserati as a repair shop, Maserati was taken over by the Diatto family 12 years later.

Over the years, this car manufacturer has been able to create a unique collection of cars, engines and components capable of illustrating the historical, technical and stylistic evolution of the Company. Today we can still admire these unique elements inside the Museum. Known also as the Umberto Panini Collection, this Museum today hosts a collection of 19 historical cars.


Lamborghini

Outside the city of Bologna, more precisely in Sant’Agata Bolognese, we find the MUDETEC, the museum dedicated to the car manufacturer of the “Golden Bull”: the Lamborghini.

Considered today a Museum of Technologies, this place has been focusing on future and innovation for years. 

In fact, interactive and unique experiences are proposed, but at the same time telling the history of Lamborghini Company.

During the guided tours, you will have the opportunity to admire the first cars created by the founder Ferruccio Lamborghini as well as recent prototypes, but also to carry out a driving simulation.


Dallara

After years of working for the most prestigious car manufacturers in the world, including Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini, Giampaolo Dallara decided in 1972 to found Dallara Automobili, just close to the city of Parma.

This company is specialized in the creation of racing cars. 

Finally in 2018, the passion of Engineer Dallara takes shape with the creation of the Dallara Academy, which includes a museum, exhibition spaces and educational workshops.


Pagani

After several collaborations with Lamborghini, the Argentine Horacio Pagani decided in 1999 to found his own car manufacturer Pagani

Unique cars, with a gritty character, are the result of a mix between Italian design and the Argentine culture of its founder.

Today, it is possible to book a guided tour to discover the Museum and the Production. Right here, you will find traces of Leonardo Da Vinci, who is the main source of inspiration of Mr. Pagani.
