What to expect:
Guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio
An authentic experience unearthing the secrets concealed in this ancient palace, home to the Medici family and centre of Florence’s power, in a 90-minute guided tour. This is where the city’s Renaissance began, and where all the discoveries made at the Accademia and the Uffizi fit together in a perfect puzzle.
After meeting your guide in Piazza della Signoria, you’ll tour the palace to discover its secrets, legends and hidden masterpieces.
NB: Palazzo Vecchio is an active political site. Due to unforeseen institutional events, access to the Salone dei Cinquecento is NOT guaranteed. Short queues may be encountered in museums, due to security checks using metal detectors.
Uffizi Gallery – entrance ticket
With the Medici Pass you’ll be able to access the entire Uffizi Gallery in Florence and discover all the masterpieces it contains.
Commissioned by Cosimo de’ Medici to house the offices of the judiciary, the building – dating back to the 16th century and in full Renaissance style – now preserves masterpieces of rare and priceless beauty.
As you walk through the rooms of this astonishing place, you’ll travel through history, starting in the 14th century, with works by the likes of Giotto and Cimabue, moving through the 16th century, with renowned names such as Michelangelo, Raphael and Botticelli, and on to the modern and contemporary era as you admire Caravaggio, Gherardo delle Notti and many others.
You’ll be captivated by the stunning rooms that appear before your eyes, with ceilings exquisitely decorated with grotesques or adorned with six thousand mother-of-pearl shells from the Indian Ocean.
Academy Gallery – entrance ticket
The Accademia Gallery in Florence is famous all over the world. The museum contains Michelangelo’s wonderful David, which finds its perfect home here.
Founded in 1563, the collection of this important museum includes pieces of inestimable value and beauty: think of Michelangelo’s celebrated David, or unparalleled pieces such as Botticelli’s Virgin and Child with St John and two Angels, Domenico del Ghirlandaio’sSaints Stephen, James the Great and Peter, Filippino Lippi’s poignantDeposition of Christ from the Cross, and Perugino’s well-knownVallombrosa Altarpiece.
The Medici Pass allows you to access this important gallery, and also the Museum of Musical Instruments, containing some wonderful items, including a Stradivarius that can still be played to this day.
